Giving is Growing in Compassion
It's not hard for me to remember when I've depended on social assistance to make my way in life. Being a a pretty good place in life now, I love giving monthly to a couple of places that really make a difference to people here in Montana. I encourage you to find a place your heart leads you to and share some time, talent, or money. Feel free to join me and click on the images below to support some amazing people helping those that need it.
Volunteering my time and talent helps me stay in appreciation, keeps me grounded, and allows me to share smiles & encouraging words with the people I am helping. Currently I am sharing some of my time at our local Food Share.
I've also volunteered to help an amazing dance instructor Jaime Lue Inflore of Big Sky Danceworks with her dance troupe for a discussion group "Taking Back Pretty." It helped dancers build their self-esteem. Through discussion and application of solutions, it helped them be more effective valuing their body as an expression of their soul and intelligence.
Was grateful to share with the "Pantry Times" how giving is sharing my heart. News article available by clicking the "Pantry Times" below
Another one of my favorite volunteering projects was the Benton Avenue Cemetery project. The historical cemetery was vandalized. Grave sites and headstones needed extensive repairs by people who specialized in how stone was cut back in the day from that time period.
The Montana Historical Society asked for volunteers and cast about a half dozen actors to dress the part of a person who had passed away and was buried at the cemetery. We delivered monologues in a storytelling fashion to people who paid an admission fee to stop by and visit the selected grave sites of the old west characters thereby raising money for the repairs. Below pictured is my character, Fannie Mae Spencer, a lady of the evening.
