"The Big Muddy" tv series was co-written, developed, produced, and directed by Chris Hoffert of In My Tent Productions, in association with Aviation Pictures. Martin Hoffert served as co-writer, with David Worth (Kickboxer, Lady Dragon, Hard Knocks) contributing as a production and technical consultant. The Hoffert family supported this project through costuming, craft services and in production.
Chris Hoffert is a United States Marine Corps combat veteran who served on tour in Iraq. While deployed, he began documenting the daily lives of fellow soldiers during some of the most difficult periods of the war. After returning from active duty, he attended the Academy of Art University, graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Directing and an Associate’s degree in Cinematography.
I was introduced to Chris through a mutual friend in the National Guard who was familiar with my acting work. During the development of The Big Muddy, I worked with Chris in several capacities, including script supervisor, props assistance, and acting consultant, in addition to being cast as an actress.
I portray Amy Thatcher, a recurring guest star appearing in three episodes. Amy is a purpose-driven trailblazer and a quiet force of female progressiveness in the untamed west. Actively carving out her own identity, she extends her sense of responsibility beyond the classroom blackboard, standing firmly for the safety and education of the children in her care. Her strength and her voice are unwavering for doing what is right.
Seen through the lens of a military veteran, The Big Muddy carries a restrained, spaghetti western–influenced visual language—grounded, disciplined, and shaped by lived experience rather than genre convention. Filming took place over approximately a year and a half at historic Montana locations including Bannack State Park and the Ghost Wolf and the Ruby Dell Ranches. Much of the production was completed off-grid, presenting unique logistical challenges that required a high level of collaboration and resourcefulness.
The series premiered in Dillon, Montana at the Big Sky Cinema.

In addition to my principal work on the series, I also appeared in select calvary battle scenes. These behind-the-scenes moments capture the camaraderie and levity shared between takes during production while scenes were being set up.
